PlayFLIX

The PlayFLIX application presents you with a rather long list of TV shows and movies. When you select a movie, for example, the application starts playing it on your computer – PlayFLIX gets movies from various hosting sources on the web and streams them on your computer. So, with an internet-connected PC and the PlayFLIX application, you have easy access to a variety of movies and TV shows.

Downloading 1MB off the internet takes but a moment, even on a lousy internet connection. You will be glad to know then that the PlayFLIX installation file is less than 1MB in size. You will also be glad to know that installing it is a very simple process, through which you are guided by a setup wizard. XP, Vista, and Windows 7 are the Windows editions on which PlayFLIX works without problems.

The interface will not pose a problem to any user. The main window presents thumbnails for a variety of movies. At the top, there are buttons that you can use to filter what you see in the main window. With names like Recently Added, Most Viewed, or Classic Movies, you won’t have any problems figuring out what to click. To further filter what you see, there are three menus on the top right hand side, that let you choose the genre, the 1st letter of the movie, and the year it was released.

Viewing a movie with the PlayFLIX application is as simple as it can be. Once you’ve gone through the buttons at the top and you’ve decided what movie you want to watch, just click on its poster. As you do that, a media player will launch and the movie will start playing. As a precaution, I am going to remind you that you’re going to need an active internet connection to play the movies. Getting back to the topic at hand, if you can’t decide which out of several movies you want to watch, you can add them to the Watchlist. Hit the Movie Watchlist button at the top and all the movies added to the list will be presented to you.

The downside is that the quality of some of the movies is not great. I tried watching The Hunger Games and the quality was quite lousy.
